JuneJuly is Kyle Hovenkotter and Jake Matatyaou, a design studio based in Brooklyn, NY and Los Angeles, CA. JuneJuly stages experiences (spaces, installations, things, ideas) that go beyond what’s seen, to produce effects that must be heard, felt, tasted, and lived.

An installation for the A+D Museum group show architecture, architectural & Architecture. A drawing of a door, and another of a door frame, were solicited independent of one another on Craigslist in exchange for $50 per drawing. The Craigslist advertisements only specified that the door and opening must be three feet wide and seven feet high. The drawings were enlarged as received and given to a carpenter to construct. The door, built as drawn, does not open. The project questions the waning agency of the architect in the do-it-yourself era. June 2017.
